A psychoeducational assessment is a thorough assessment conducted by a Licensed Psychologist designed to identify an individual’s strengths and weaknesses. Whether it's learning difficulties, giftedness, or delays, a comprehensive assessment aimed at measuring intellectual functioning and academic achievement can provide students, parents, and teachers, with effective tools aimed at

helping students reach their highest potential.

Psychoeducational Assessments For:

  • Learning Disabilities
  • Giftedness
  • Delays
  • ADHD
  • Social and Emotional Difficulties
  • Oppositional Behaviours

The process for a psychoeducational assessment typically involves:

Initial Consultation

During an initial screening interview (on phone or in person), you will meet with a Psychologist to discuss any ongoing issues and determine if a psychoeducational assessment is reasonable and necessary. We can also answer any questions you may have.

Psychometric Assessment

Should you decide to proceed with the psychoeducational assessment following the initial consultation, you will be provided with additional appointment time(s) for the assessment. The individual being assessed will then be given various tests to assess his/her academic and reasoning skills, intellectual abilities, memory, attention, and executive functions. The testing duration will be adjusted to individual needs, but will typically last three to six hours in total. Testing time may be spread out over two or three days.

Assessment of Social-Emotional and Behavioral Functioning

This part of the assessment involves gathering collateral and qualitative information to help us better understand the individual being assessed. Clinical interviews with parents/caregivers are conducted and questionnaires may be given to the parents/caregivers, teacher and the individual being assessed to complete.

Report and Recommendations

We will prepare a comprehensive report including test results, insights, and questionnaire information. The report will also include detailed recommendations for any necessary school accommodations and at-home support strategies.

Feedback Session

We will meet with you to go over the report, discuss recommendations, and answer any questions that you may have. We are also available to meet with school personnel and other professionals as requested.
